Answers:

1. Conviction Records is an independant record label that was formed in January, 2003 in Pittsburgh, PA, whose main goal is to seek out, promote, and further the musical careers of talented, regional artists who are ready for a real commitment. Although the word Conviction has multiple meanings, one of those is "a strong feeling or belief", which is what we have for music, this is the main reason we chose the name for the label.

2. The company was founded by it's two partners Jason Sturgill and ERiC AiXeLsyD. Both ERiC and Jason have grown up in the Pittsburgh region and have watched it's music scene develop over the years. Also, both have been heavily involved in developing and promoting countless shows, bands, and compilation projects. The musical talents belong mostly to ERiC who has been involved in many groups and projects, including his current band, Conviction Records' artists, AiXeLsyD. Jason's talents point more toward the technical and entrepreneurial side of the business. Despite a few differnences in artistic talent, ERiC and Jason have a strong abilities to recognize talent, and they share the same vision for the future of Conviction Records.

Conviction Records also looks to it's long-time friends and associates for creative input. Without their help and support, none of the magic would be possible.

3. Conviction Records works with each individual group or artist to determine what their needs are. We feel that artists can do what they do best (create great music) if they can concentrate their efforts on that process rather than having to worry about logistics, like getting their music in stores, promoting and booking shows, etc. Therefore, the specific services and agreement between Conviction Records and the artists will be customized to fit each situation. Some of these things could include:

  • Distribution of CD's to regional record stores with barcodes
  • Promotion and Publicity
  • Web site development and support services
  • E-mail support services
  • Assitance with locating recording facilities and pressing services
  • Booking shows
  • Assistance with design of artwork, layouts, logos, etc.
  • Development of promotional items and merchanside, such as, flyers and posters, 1" buttons, stickers, t-shirts, etc.

4. Conviction Records is always searching for fresh talent. If you think you have what it takes, you can get demos and information to us two ways. You can e-mail demos@convictionrecords.com , or send whatever you've got to the following address:

Attn: Demos
Conviction Records
7106 Baker Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15206

When e-mailing demos@convictionrecords.com, please send direct links to downloadable song files, i.e. *.mp3, *.wma, *.ra, *.rm, etc. PLEASE DO NOT SEND SOUND FILE ATTACHMENTS WITH THE E-MAIL. Links to downloadable files are great, we can get them, burn ‘em to a CD-R, and listen on a good stereo. Again, direct links to the files are best (not the page that the files are on), and they should be downloadable, not streaming.

You can also post direct links to your downloadable songs and/or video on our Message Board, in the Direct Download & Discussion Forum. Here we can hear the songs, along with everyone who posts on the board, & hopefully you’ll get some feedback from our members. Be sure to READ THE RULES before posting in that forum though!

Alternately, if you have audio files, but there not posted on the web anywhere available for download, we have an area where you can FTP the files to us here at ConvictionRecords.com. To gain access to the necessary information for the FTP transfer, e-mail us at (you guessed it…) demos@convictionrecords.com and we’ll be happy to help you out.

(What the #$@% is FTP-ing? Here’s a great explanation. Also, if you need an FTP program, try this free version of Leech FTP.)
